Frequently Asked Questions

I don't exercise, but I want to start. Do I need to be at a certain fitness level before joining?

Absolutely not! The best day to make a change was yesterday.  The second best day to make a change is TODAY. Any fitness level is welcome and able to do GRIT workouts. Whether you've never exercised in your life, or you're a competitive athlete...overweight or underweight...young adult or senior...you are capable.  These workouts can be modified for anyone, so come as you are.

I don't know how to lift weights. Everyone will be watching me do it wrong, and I'll be embarassed.

It's a common fear, but people really are focused on themselves and won't remember a single thing about another person in the class.  Secondly, this is about YOU.  Not anyone else.  Finally, be humble enough to be taught.  I'll never throw you into a workout assuming you know how to do the movements.  I won't give you more weight than you can safely lift.  And I'll never have you do a workout or task that I personally wouldn't do myself.

This sounds miserable...

Sometimes your attitude needs transformed more than your body.  If you're not willing to walk in with a clean slate and a desire to improve, this gym isn't for you.  My passion is helping people better themselves, both mentally and physically.  I WANT the broken people who need their life transformed.  Your self esteem, determination, persistence, and accomplishments will all play a role in how you live your life.

Why is building mental toughness important?

All GRIT workouts are training you for LIFE.  You'll embrace discomfort, learn that quitting isn't an option, and find a way to complete the task.  You'll replace excuses with accountability and discipline.  That directly impacts how you raise your kids, your job performance, and how you treat yourself and others.

What is your policy on student memberships?

Fitness at any age is important! Student memberships are available for both high school and college levels.  For open gym access, students must be 18+, no exceptions.  Students must also be in school full time, and under the age of 22.

What events are held outside of class?

A few times a year, you'll have the option to join various events that take much preparation and training.  Some past events include the OKC Memorial Marathon, David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge, and Nutrition Challenges. These are extremely tough goals, and I'll be there every step of the way to help you complete them!

Is there a contract?

Memberships are charged monthly, with no contracts.  If you need to pause or cancel, just notify us at least three days before your membership renews and we'll make sure you're not charged.

What does Open Gym entail?

Members with Open Gym access will be allowed entry into the gym during specific hours outside of class times. This is a great option for those with schedule conflicts, or those who prefer to work out solo. Access is granted by your choice of PIN code or or through a private app on your phone.  Upon entry, you are expected to clean and return any equipment used during your session.
